| Rare is the architectural story in which the name of Konrad Wachsmann does not appear linked to Buckminster Fuller, Jean Prouvé, Richard Rogers, Renzo Piano, Norman Foster, Ernö Goldfinger, etc., and does not appear in the background what we know as High Tech Architecture.

Beyond the classifications and labels, all the above mentioned share an industrial conception of construction, which makes them be considered pioneers of the High Tech movement. In the text High Tech Architecture Colin Davies recalled the importance of the representativeness of the technique, especially for those that turned the use of innovative technologies into a mannerist style of modernity.

On the contrary, Wachsmann's work overflows with honesty from all points of view. Formed in the Germany of Tessenow and Poelzig, from very young he showed concern for the construction in timber and, after emigrating to the United States, he deepened in the knowledge of the techniques of prefabrication and industrial construction. The curiosity and the restlessness to develop a "collective" architecture led him to design some of the most original structural systems of the 20th century.

Among them, the Grapevine Structure (1953) stands out, a structural model based on a joint without rigid knots, able to autonomously generate structures that facilitate spatial occupation between two horizontal planes. It is an organic structure that at first sight reminds even the model of neuronal connections of the human brain.

This publication of Park Books accurately records the most important innovations proposed by Wachsmann. Original graphic reproductions and testimonies of those who knew the pedagogical value of his work complete an extremely suggestive volume.
